It is a style of house building found in the Far East centered around Indonesia, ,Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
It is wrong to describe them as a type of house since that implies they are of one design. In Indonesia for example they are long huts where large numbers may live together and entirely different to attap houses in other countries.
Rather it is a description of the way they are built like saying a wooden house or a brick house.
They are constructed almost entirely with the Attap palm using the stems to build the structure of the walls and roofs with the leaves used to cover them and make them weatherproof!
house of indigenous people of SEA, especially Singapore, which roof made of , cleverly arranged sago palm leaf.
