Question

Please help - Your system policy has denied access to the requested URL?

I encountered this problem about 2 hours ago where I got this message when opening any websites from firefox:

Access Denied (policy_denied)

Your system policy has denied access to the requested URL.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

The same thing appears when trying to open websites in IE and chrome. I already called up my ISP, we did everything to check the connection and there's NO ISSUE from their end. In fact, I could sign in to YM and skype without any issues. I could also login to gmail but CANNOT browse other websites (facebook, etc.)

I haven't found an answer online that works yet. I'm using a laptop at home and I haven't changed any settings whatsoever so i don't know how this thing happened. This is the first time that I encountered this.

I tried to connect to over-the-air internet (using my celfone as a modem with simcard that supports 3G) and everything is OK. But connecting to my wired DSL again gives me the same error message in any browsers.

I'm already stressed out trying to fix this thing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer

Turn your modem/router and PC off, wait a minute and power modem/router back up and when light indicate reconnected then turn on PC.

Might also try setting your PC back to a time prior to this issue using System Restore.

What firewall are you using? Have you tried to disable it and retry?

EDIT: Try this

Bring up your registry and go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\… Version\Policies\Ratings.

delete the key under the ratings folder.

close browser and try again.

Your first step is to delete and refresh your favorites. Phishing and other new terms for tagging along can blog your favorites and crash your explorer.
