Question

Ax + By = C, math formula?

This formula is confusing me. How do I put something into standard form using this formula? Here is two examples from my worksheet:

y = 3x - 1

y = -4x - 2

I really need to understand this, my class is kind of ahead of me because I was absent for two days. :x

Answer

that must be a part of an exercise.

only y is evaluated here.

x may be :

1 : 3x - 1 means y = 3

2 : ....................y = 5

3 : ....................y = 8

4 :.....................y =11

5 :.....................y =14

6:......................y =17....and so on

one example:

when there is written 5 x + y = 15

y = 3x - 1

you may estimate

5x + 3x - 1 = 15

8x = 16

x = 2

y = 3 times 2 - 1

y = 5
