Question

My maple tree's leaves are growing spikes/thorns?

It looks like a fungus/infection type of thing, and every leaf has like thorns or spikes growing vertically out of it it looks putrid. Any help?

Answers

These are probably maple leaf galls, caused by a mite. They make the leaves look ugly, but they really don't hurt the tree. See the link for more.

It's most likely the work of a gall wasp. Galls by these wasps do no direct harm, they just look unsightly. There is nothing you can do about them, unfortunately, just wait for the leaves to fall.
