EXPLAIN WHY CH3OH IS SOLUBLE IN WATER BUT C6H6 IS NOT

Answers

BECAUSE CH3OH IS ALCOHOL AND IT,S MOLECULES ARE POLAR BUT C6H6 IS BENZENE AND IT IS NON POLAR THAT IS WHY CH3OH IS SOLUBLE IN WATER BUT C6H6 IS NOT SOLUBLE IN WATER

#1

It's because an alcohol forms hydrogen bonding with water while benzene don't.

#2

CH3OH dissolve in H2O due to hydrogen bonding but according to general principle (like dissolve like) as H2O is a polar solvent and C6H6 non polar. therefore C6H6 will not dissolve in water
