Question

What do I need to get on my final to pass the class?

I need to get a 70 or higher in the class to pass. Quizzes(25%), Tests(45%), and Final(30%). The lowest two quiz scores will be dropped and your final exam score will replace one of your lower test scores if the final is higher than the test.

Here's the rundown of all of my quizzes and tests, there are no homework assignment.

Quizzes: 4.5/10 5.5/10 6/10 6/10 6.5/10 7/10 7/10 8.5/10 8.5/10 10/10

Tests: 22.5/46 - 49% 14/24 - 59% 44/59 - 75% 43/56 - 77%

I asked my teacher what my grade is in the class and he said it's at 69% and I need a C on the final to pass. I don't think that's right.

Answer

I will try to answer since your quizzes count 25%, take your quiz average and multiply by .25 I dropped the lower 2 quiz grades

quiz average is 74% multiply by .25 = 18.5

test count as 45%, take your test average and multiply by .45

test average is 65% multiply by .45 = 29.25

Final is 30% of your grade, take your final average and multiply by .30.

If your final is 70% then 70 multiplied by .30 = 21 but getting a 70 on the final will replace one of your test scores giving you a new test average of 70%. We remultiply the new test average by .45 to get 31.5.Add together to get final grade.

(quiz) 18.5 + (new test average) 31.5 + (final) 21 = 71%. So, you must shoot for a grade of 70% on the final to get a grade of "C". Good luck I say go for it!

69.5% = quizzes

65% = tests

0.25(0.695) + 0.45(0.65) + 0.30x = 0.70

0.17375 + 0.2925 + 0.30x = 0.70

0.46625 + 0.3x = 0.7

0.3x = 0.23375

x = 0.779...You need at least 77.9%
