Two Physics questions. Please help?I have two questions

I have two questions. Here they are:

Place a small drop of water on wax paper. Describe how the water behaves; what characteristic of water are you investigating?

Take a glass of water and see if you can float a paper clip or pin on it. What characteristic of water are you investigating?

Please help me on these. Not only do I not know what the questions are referring to when they say "characteristics of water", but I do not have access to any of these materials to do the experiments. I do have ideas of what would happen however.

Answer

as per first question: there is adhesive force acting between the two. as a result of this, liquid does not wets the wax paper and also, the angle of contact is obtuse

and

in the second question it is surface tension.
