Question

What does my eye prescription mean?

sphere, cylinder, axis

OD is +3.00 -1.50 x 178

OS is +4.75 -2.75 x 165

All I know is I have a lot of astigmatism and I can't see far away. I still like to know exactly what these numbers mean so I understand more

Answer

The first numbers, +3.00 and +4.75 refer to the amount needed to correct your farsightedness. The second number, -1.50 and -2.75 refer to the amount needed to correct your astigmatism. I wouldn't say you have a lot though. And the last number, 178 and 165 refer to the degree axis your astigmatism correction needed to be turn to give you the best, sharpest vision. If you were looking for what vision this get you when you put them on, I am assuming it would be at least 20/20 or better. If you were looking for what your vision is without this, you can't tell just from looking at these numbers. Vision numbers and prescription numbers mean totally different things.
