Question

I know this sounds weird but, How do you pray?

Lately, I've been going through a lot of things. A LOT,of things. And it seems as if I can't get the weight lifted off my shoulders no matter what I do. I've been born and raised into a christian household, but the last time I actually remember praying was when I was eight years old and I'm fifteen now. I never lost faith, it's just that every time I thought about praying, I had a fear that my prayer wouldn't be answered, that God's punishing me fr something I've done wrong. And I've done a lot of wrongs things in my life that I wish to be forgiven for. So my question is How do you pray and how do you get your prayer answered?

P.S. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I'm being totally serious about this. I really do some advice. And please don't be too harsh.

Answers

There is no correct way to "pray". It is just you sitting down, relaxing and talking to God. Now, God might not answer your prayers but he will take good care of you. If you feel as if you need to be forgiven, go to Reconciliation. Ask God for forgiveness and he will forgive you. If you don't go to church and do that, just ask God forgiveness yourself at home before you go to bed. Ask him to forgive you of your sins and confess them to him. Just remember, no matter what, God loves you. Another thing to make you feel better is to pray every night before you go to bed. Just lay in your bed, say some prayers (Hail Mary, Our Father and any other prayers you like) and tell God about your day and what you did wrong and that you know what you did was wrong. It will make you feel better and help you go to sleep! I hope this helps! P.S- God would not punish you for doing something wrong.

the disciples asked Jesus the very same question you are asking here and the answer to their question was what we know as the Lord's prayer which Jesus gave to them ..it is as follows

Our father, who art in heaven,

Halllowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our tresspasses

As we forgive them that trespass against us

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil

For thine is the kingdom'the power ,and the glory

For ever and ever

Amen

i may be off but you can google it..lords prayer

i cant think of a better prayer..if you read each line it covers everything..we give praise to god we ask that we not be lead into temptation..like porn ..etc etc..but in case we do wander..deliver us from evil...t

the most important..forgive our mistakes as we forgive others who do wrong to us

u can interpret it in your own way ..but rest assured it will help

I will tell you that is the devil talking to you when you feel your prayers aren't going to be answered or heard. The devil is discouraging you from praying because prayer is very powerful. Prayer is an attack on the enemy and weakens him. It's like slashing him with a sword literally. Most definitely pray and know God always hears you and answers you. He can answer one of three ways though. He can say yes, wait, or no. The only guarentteed yes you will get is when you pray in accordance with His will. If you pray and nothing happens, it's not cuz God didn't hear you, but it wasn't His will at this point in time. Discover God's will by continual prayer and reading the Word, that will make you more effective in your prayer because you will learn how to prayer God's will because you will better know Him.

I tend to pray simply because

1) I was asked to

2) I want to

3) it is my destiny to.

Believing in God is secondary to this activity.

Actual prayer calms you, gives you focus, and helps you sort through what is important in your life. It can bring you to a closer understanding and a broader sense of the life we share with so many many others on this planet. It can open your mind to things you didn't think about before.

I wish you well in this endeavor, and I exhort anyone, whether you are super religious or not, to engage in this simple practice: once in the morning and once at night, for 10 minutes or so.

Just talk to him as you think about things.

He hears.

He understands.

This might be helpful.

its not a stupid question. there is no specific way to pray. praying is however you feel comfortable talking to god it doesn't even have to out loud

Just talk to God... I'm not a big believer in praying, but you don't need to do some weird ritual thing to talk to the creator of the universe.
