Question

What does being a Secular Humanist Entail? Does it amount to nothing more than many unaffiliated clubs?

What is the Secular Humanist community like? How do they communicate with one another? Do they ever get together? If so how? Is there such thing as a card carrying Secular Humanist? lol

Answers

Secular Humanism isn't a club, or a community. It's a philosophy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_hum…

"Secular Humanism is a secular philosophy that espouses reason, ethics, and the search for human fulfillment, and specifically rejects supernatural and religious dogma as the basis of morality and decision-making. Secular Humanism is a life stance that focuses on the way human beings can lead happy and functional lives.

Secular Humanism describes a world view with the following elements and principles:

* Need to test beliefs – A conviction that dogmas, ideologies and traditions, whether religious, political or social, must be weighed and tested by each individual and not simply accepted by faith.

* Reason, evidence, scientific method – A commitment to the use of critical reason, factual evidence and scientific methods of inquiry in seeking solutions to human problems and answers to important human questions.

* Fulfillment, growth, creativity – A primary concern with fulfillment, growth and creativity for both the individual and humankind in general.

* Search for truth – A constant search for objective truth, with the understanding that new knowledge and experience constantly alter our imperfect perception of it.

* This life – A concern for this life (as opposed to an afterlife) and a commitment to making it meaningful through better understanding of ourselves, our history, our intellectual and artistic achievements, and the outlooks of those who differ from us.

* Ethics – A search for viable individual, social and political principles of ethical conduct, judging them on their ability to enhance human well-being and individual responsibility.

* Building a better world – A conviction that with reason, an open exchange of ideas, good will, and tolerance, progress can be made in building a better world for ourselves and our children."

I don't really know, but judging the responses here on R&S they seem to be antigod and want to discourage any belief whatsoever ! They need to take a closer look at the message in the sky !

Yes there is a message there !

The proof of God's true existence is His willingness to tell us what He will do centuries before He does it ! As a case in point He put the dates of messianic events written in the skies at creation ! Those events include His conception, His birth and death ! You have to have a little information about astronomy, Feasts of Israel, the stars and their positions in the sky, and your willingness to go and discover information that may change your thinking and maybe your life !

secular is what the planet would have if no one believed in God

humanist is to be kindly to all humans but without the limitations of Eugenics or Euthanasia

live and let die would be the first motto

there doesnt have to be any LOVE, just a liberal form of acceptance.

it sounds good, at face value, but with all dictators, Some will have the right to live while others will be chosen to die.
