Question

How would I solve this equation for x?

2x^2 +3x+6=0

Answers

This equation doesn't have real roots, look at the discriminant:

b2 - 4ac = 32 - 4*2*6 = 9 - 48 = -39

Since the discriminant is negative, it gives complex solutions...you can still use the quadratic equation to find those complex roots though:

x = (-3 ± i√(39))/4
